Stagecoach Supertram reveal important changes to tram-train timetable
A new tram train and Supertram timetable will be implemented this month, with changes to frequency and later services available.
The new timetable will be implemented on Sunday December 15, and will see changes made to the network, including an overhaul of the purple route’s schedule.
It will see trams operating at increased frequency as well as services being available at times when they were previously not on.
One major difference is the addition of a number of later services, with trams running until after 11pm on Mondays to Saturdays.
To promote this, Stagecoach are introducing a promotional 'After 8' ticket. For just £2, customers can get unlimited travel from 8pm on Tram Train and Supertram services until the end of service, when boarding at Rotherham Central or Parkgate.
This promotion ends on May 2 next year.
The last tram to leave from the Cathedral to Rotherham Parkgate will be at 22:44, and the last tram doing that journey and going in the other direction will leave Parkgate at 23:16.
There will also be a shorter service operating a little later from the Cathedral for Cricket Inn Road at 21:32.
Sunday services will also run later, with the last tram for Rotherham Parkgate departing from the Cathedral at 20:32 and the a shorter service to Cricket Inn Road departing an hour later.
The line between Cathedral and Rotherham Parkgate will have a 27 minute journey time and there will be up to three services per hour, Stagecoach has said.
The purple route, which takes passengers Herdings Park to City, will now run until after midnight.
On Mondays to Fridays the last tram from Herdings Park will depart at 00:08 and the last from Cathedral will depart at 23:42.
On Saturdays the schedule runs just as late but with some changes to earlier trains.
And on Sundays the last train from Herdings Park will depart at 23:58 and the last from Cathedral will be at 23:24.
The journey time for trams on the purple route is now 30 minutes.
