The Mayor has come up with a long list of ideas to create a “joined up”, reliable, affordable, sustainable transport system, that “serves every community” throughout the region.
He told The Star: “Public transport in South Yorkshire has been broken for too long. I promised to make change happen, to give South Yorkshire back the world class public transport system we once had, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
One of Mr Coppard’s central goals will be improving the efficiency of the Supertram, something which has been in place in Sheffield since 1985. The Supertram connects large areas of the city together, stretching all the way from Meadowhall to Hillsborough and everything in between and is crucial to people’s commutes to work, travel to sports event and lots of other activities.
But does it need a few more additional stops to better serve the public in Sheffield and the surrounding areas? We asked the people of Sheffield which stops they’d like to see added to the tram route in the near future.
