Serious police incident leads to motorway closure in South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire Police said the southbound stretch between Junction 36 for Barnsley and 35A for Tankersley is closed and is not expected to re-open until around noon.
A signed diversion is in place but traffic is building.South Yorkshire Police has urged motorists to find an alternative route, with the closure expected to cause severe delays.
The nature of the incident being dealt with has not yet been revealed.
