The road closures and bus diversions for Sheffield Christmas Lights switch-on 2019

Holidays are almost here as the city gears up for the Sheffield Christmas Lights switch-on.

Sheffield Christmas Markets opened on Thursday, as well as the new Alpine Bar, and Thor’s Tipi Bar will arrive in the Peace Gardens next week.

The only thing left to do is switch on the Christmas lights which will take place on Sunday, November 17.

The switch-on celebrations takes place at the Peace Gardens Stage and will run from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.

The lights themselves will be turned on at 5.30pm.

X Factor sar Jake Quickenden will be on hand to help turn on the lights, joined by Britain's Got Talent's Siobhan Phillips and local BGT star Kyle Tomlinson.

Transport will be affected for the big event with roads closed and buses diverted on the big day.

Road closures

Leopold Street and Pinstone Street will be closed to traffic between 10am and 8.30pm on Sunday, November 17.

Bus Service diversions

Bus service 1 will divert between;

Castle Square and Furnival Square via Arundel Gate before resuming its normal route towards Jordanthorpe.

Bus Service 2 will divert between;

West street and Rockingham Street Via Carver Street then resuming normal route heading to Barnsley.

Bus Service 11&11a will divert between;

High Street at Castle Square (service bus stop AG9) and Furnival Square via Arundel Gate resuming normal route on Furnival Gate towards Herdings. Services 11 towards Chapeltown and 11a towards Fir Vale will be unaffected and should operate as normal.

Bus service 30a will divert between;

High St at Castle Square then divert via Arundel Gate towards Sheffield, before terminating at stop CS3 on Arundel Gate. Service 30a towards Plumbley to depart from CS3 and operate normal route.

Bus service 51 will divert between;

West Street and Charter Row via Carver street heading to Charnock. Service 51 towards Lodge Moor will be unaffected and should operate as normal.

Bus service 52&52a will divert between;

West Street and Arundel Gate via Carver street towards Woodhouse. Services 52 towards Hillsborough and 52a towards Wisewood will be unaffected and should operate as normal.

Bus service 75/76 will divert between;

Castle Square and Furnival Square via Arundel Gate towards Jordanthorpe and Lowedges. Services 75 and 76 towards Shiregreen will be unaffected and should operate as normal.

Bus service 81&82 will divert between;

Snig hill and Furnival Square via Castle street heading towards Dore. Services operating towards stannington should be unaffected.

Bus service 83 will divert between;

Snig hill and Furnival Gate via castle street towards Bents Green. Services towards Ecclefield should not be affected.

Bus service 86 will divert between;

Castle Square and Furnival Gate via Arundel gate towards Lowedges.

Bus service 88 will divert between;

Snig Hill and Furnival Square via Castle Street towards Bents Green.

Bus service 95&95a will divert between;

West Street and Furnival street via Carver Street towards Meadowhall.

Bus service 120 will divert between;

West Street and Arundel Gate via Carver Street heading to Halfway. Service 120 towards Fulwood will be unaffected and should operate as normal.
