Police looking for individual over five-car crash in Sheffield

The police are currently looking for an individual believed to be involved in a five-vehicle collision that occurred on a Sheffield road earlier today.

South Yorkshire Police said emergency services were called out to Lound Side, Chapeltown at 1.01pm.

The spokesman said: "Two cars were involved in an initial collision and hit the other three as a result.

"The cars involved were a Ford Symax, a Volkswagen Golf, a Kia Ceed, a Citroen C3 and a Toyota Yaris.

"Investigating officers are still at the scene and the road is being closed down for investigation but should reopen soon."

However, one of the drivers has left the scene, he said.

"We would like to speak to that person as we believe, holds important information to this incident."

He added that there were also children involved in the collision, but they were not injured.

"It is an ongoing enquiry," he said, when asked on the number of casualties.

It was reported earlier that buses were being diverted as a result of the collision.
