A woman caused disruption on the tramline in Sheffield when she somehow managed to get her car lodged on the tracks.

South Yorkshire Police said they received a call at around 2.05pm on Friday (January 31) reporting a car stuck on the tracks near the Granville Road stop.

Apparently the woman had tried to ‘do a manoeuvre’ before her vehicle became stuck.

Trams were halted while a recovery operation was launched, but the force said ‘disruption was minimal’.

A spokesperson from Sheffield South East NHP said: “Sheffield is famous for Henderson’s relish, seven hills and confusing roads that often disguise themselves as tram tracks.

“Luckily no one was hurt and disruption was minimal.

“The driver was offered words of advice and a strong cup of Yorkshire Tea by officers from the Manor and Arbourthorne team.”
