National Highways issues update after Woodhead Pass, between Sheffield and Manchester, is closed
Highways bosses have issued an update on the Woodhead Pass, a major trans Pennine route between Sheffield and Manchester, after it’s closure last night.
The road was closed because of the weather conditions last night, as snow hit high ground on the Pennines, and National Highways say it remains closed this morning too.

At 9.30am, a spokesman told The Star: “Currently, the A628 Woodhead Pass remains closed in both directions between the A616 (Flouch) and the A57 (Hollingworth) due to weather conditions.
“A review of the conditions has taken place this morning. There is some flooding in areas of the A628 which is being cleared and treated. Once all clear, plans will be made to re-open the road.”
No time scale for re-opening is available at present.
