Trams were cancelled and buses rerouted due to the closure, with some buses forced to make a three-point-turn as they were unable to pass.

Stagecoach Supertram tweeted: “Due to an RTC on West St Blue and Yellow route services are unable run between Cathedral and shalesmoor.”

South Yorkshire Police are not giving a statement at this time.
