Lorry fire on major Sheffield road

Sheffield Parkway was closed following the fire this morning, Saturday, January 11.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue was called at 9.57am to reports of an HGV alight near the Handsworth exit.

It sent three fire engines, and the blaze was extinguished at 10.17am.

Stagecoach’s X6 Doncaster Airport-Sheffield bus service had to be diverted, but the operator said at 11.15am that the road had reopened and the service was back to normal.
