Hopes raised potholed Osborne Road in Sheffield is about to be resurfaced
Local resident Liam Gerrad said the road was cleared a few weeks ago and he understood it was due to be resurfaced
Hopes have been raised that a notoriously potholed Sheffield road is about to be resurfaced.
Signs have appeared on Osborne Road in Nether Edge stating it will be closed from 9.30am-3.30pm from September 2 for 10 days.

Local resident Liam Gerrad said he understood it was due to be resurfaced.
But there was no activity on Wednesday September 2.
The signs are branded Streets Ahead, the name of the partnership between the city council and private sector contractor Amey.

Sheffield City Council’s roadworks website states works are ‘about to start’ on Osborne Road but does not give details of what will happen.
Amey and Sheffield City Council were contacted for comment.
Earlier this year Amey resurfaced nearby Nether Edge crossroads. It has also recently completed repairs on another section of Osborne Road.

In July, the Labour party in Sheffield launched a pothole campaign to put pressure on Amey.
Councillors launched a “reporting blitz” aiming to pressure the firm to respond following a rise in complaints over the number of potholes on the city’s streets and the quality of repairs.
Amey repaired 8,929 potholes in Sheffield the first four months of 2026.
The council’s £2.2bn contract with Amey is set to last until 2037.
