Half-price train tickets to and from Sheffield up for grabs
Half a million tickets for train journeys across the North of England are up for grabs with 50 per cent off the cost.
TransPennine Express (TPE) have announced the discount on their services as part of the Great British Rail Sale, which starts today (January 6) and runs until Monday, January 12.
They have slashed the price on ‘advance purchase’ tickets, with discounts also on TPE and connection tickets, allowing travel on TPE services as well as connecting journeys with other train operators.

Tickets are valid for travel between Sunday, January 19 and Monday, March 31, with the sale forming part of a national campaign to make rail travel more affordable and encourage more people to choose trains for travelling.
Locally, that means a trip from Sheffield to Liverpool could cost as little as £4.70, subject to to availability, while journeys between Edinburgh and Newcastle are available from just £4.20.
Tickets must be booked in advance and will not be available on the day of travel.
Darren Higgins, commercial director for TPE, said: “The Great British Rail Sale is a great opportunity for customers to get excited about travel over the next few months.
“With up to 50 per cent off advance tickets, booking early really can pay off, whether you’re planning a short break or a longer journey.”
“There are half a million tickets available, but we are expecting them to sell out fast so be quick and grab a bargain.”
