South Yorkshire Police said: “Emergency services are responding to reports of a serious collision on the M1 northbound near to Sheffield after receiving calls at around 8.20am this morning.

“There are road closures in place on the M1 northbound at Junction 34, just north of the Tinsley Viaduct.

“Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes.”
