Four miles of congestion on M1 in Sheffield following two-vehicle crash

Traffic is building on the M1 this afternoon, following a road traffic collision on a Sheffield stretch of the motorway.

The two-vehicle collision took place near to Junction 32 of the M1 southbound in Sheffield this afternoon, with police called to the scene at around 2.47pm today (Friday, July 7, 2023).

Lane 1 is currently closed with traffic building between Junction 33, near Sheffield Parkway, and Junction 32 of the M1 southbound.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "Emergency services and Traffic Officers are on scene. There are 30 min delays above normal travel time. There are 4 miles of congestion on approach. Please allow extra travel time."

Disruption caused by the crash is expected to clear between 4.45pm and 5pm.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the collision is believed to be vehicle 'damage only'.
