A628 Woodhead Pass near Sheffield reopens after horse is reportedly put down after crash

The A628 Woodhead Pass has reopened following reports that a car pulling a horse box collided with another vehicle.

Highways England and South Yorkshire Police said the road has now reopened in both directions between the A616 (Flouch) and the A57 (Woolley Bridge).

The crash happened on Friday afternoon and was reportedly between a car pulling a horse box and another car. It is also reported that the horse later had to be put down.

The collision is understood to have happened close to the Dog and Partridge pub.
