A628 Woodhead Pass: Emergency services on scene as road between Sheffield and Manchester closed by crash
A major route between Sheffield and Manchester is closed, and emergency services on the scene, after a crash this afternoon.
National Highways confirmed that the A628 Woodhead Pass has been closed, with the AA also reporting ‘severe delays’ as a result of the incident, which is understood to involve three vehicles.
National Highways told The Star: “Details are limited at the moment. But it seems as though there has been an incident involving three vehicles, resulting in the A628 currently being blocked.
“Police are currently on the scene, along with all emergency services and National Highways.”
They said there was no timescale for when it would re-open at present.
The AA have also put out an alert over the incident.
They said: “Road blocked and severe delays due to crash on A628 both ways at Windle Edge (Dunford Bridge Turn Off).
