Traders reassured over parking

A CAMPAIGN by traders to ensure shoppers’ spaces are kept free during Sheffield’s £2 billion Streets Ahead resurfacing project has scored a result.

The Federation of Small Businesses has been reassured that Crookes and Broomhill will not have shoppers’ spaces allocated to residents during the roadworks.

The FSB objected to the idea on the grounds that it would cause ‘devastating loss of trade’ to local retailers and will potentially bring about unnecessary business closures.

Coun Leigh Bramall, Sheffield Council’s cabinet member for business, said: “Being business friendly is a top priority.”
