COACHLOADS of trade unionist campaigners are heading from Sheffield to the Conservative Party’s annual conference to join demonstrators from across the country for a protest against public sector cuts.

Two coaches have been organised so far by members of Sheffield Trades Union Council but organisers say more will be booked if there is sufficient demand.

A meeting is being held tonight at Sheffield Trades and Labour Club from 7.30pm ahead of the demonstration.

Bill Ronksley, secretary of Sheffield Trades Council, said: “Trades unionists and activists who support this demonstration of the Conservative Party Conference are urged to attend.”

As well as the trades union council coaches, Sheffield Central Hospitals Unison Branch has also booked coaches to the demonstration, which is planned to last over the three-day conference in Manchester from Sunday, October 2 to Wednesday, October 5.
