A VIOLENT incident in a pub has led to a town centre drinks ban for a Doncaster man.

Police obtained a drink banning order after 24-year-old Adam Boyd, of Wood Street in the town centre, was arrested for assault following a night out in Doncaster last month.

He was handed the order after he was found guilty of assault when he hit a man in a town centre bar.

He was handed an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months by Doncaster magistrates. He was given a 12 month supervision order, required to undertake 150 hours of community service and told to pay £100 in compensation.

The drink banning order will be in place for nine months and prohibits him from entering any premise that is licensed to sell alcohol within the town centre.

Jules Moss from the Doncaster Anti-Social Behaviour Team, said: “This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in Doncaster.

“I hope the nine-month banning order will make him think twice about this kind of behaviour in the future.”
