Tower block blaze in Sheffield was arson attack

Firefighters called to the Burlington block in Martin Street, Upperthorpe, at 6.30pm last night found an upper floor flat alight.

They said the fire was started deliberately.

Plumes of smoke were billowing from the windows when crews arrived.

Five fire engines were sent to the tower block to deal with the incident in case the fire had spread.

A police probe is underway.
