A LEADING school governor in South Yorkshire is to support others in ‘challenging circumstances’ to improve education.
Alan Richards is the first chairmam of governors to be appointed to the role of National Leader of Governance - which aims to improve school performance by strengthening governance.
His new work will be focused in and around South Yorkshire.
Alan, the chairman of governors at Wickersley School and Sports College in Rotherham, said: “Working as a chairman of governors at an outstanding school has been a real privilege for me and is very rewarding.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to support others in the role in South Yorkshire and to help them to maximise the positive impact their governing body can have in the lives of students.”
The role was created by the National College for School Leadership.
