Top award for South Yorkshire waste firm
A waste treatment facility has won a prestigious award for the eco-friendly way in which it processes thousands of tonnes of household rubbish.
The BDR and 3SE partnership won the Best Energy from Waste Initiative category at the Materials Recycling World National Recycling Awards in London in the same week it celebrated one year in business in July.
The partnership scooped the award in recognition of the Manvers-based waste treatment facility, which processes around 250,000 tonnes of waste a year from 340,000 homes across Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham.
Since opening, more than 96 per cent of waste has been successfully diverted from landfill.
The facility has also created more than 40 jobs.
