Staff at Cannon Hall Museum are celebrating after the venue’s grounds received a top honour.

The Barnsley attraction has been given a Natural England Country Park Accreditation Award, handed to country parks above 10 hectares in size which show an ‘outstanding visitor commitment’.

The park, which sits within the grounds of Cannon Hall Museum, has a formal landscape, with all the things the discerning visitor has come to expect, with long or short leisurely walks, children’s play area, and a café with toilet facilities.

The accolade is one in a line of Natural England awards received by Barnsley Council - including for Worsbrough Mill Museum and Country Park and Rabbit Ings Park.
