Tooth Tunes will get the kids brushing!

GETTING children to brush their teeth properly can be a struggle for parents.

But the makers of a music toothbrush called Tooth Tunes think they have come up with the answer!

The brushes plays a pop song for two minutes which, according to the British Dental Health Foundation, is the recommended amount of time to spend brushing twice a day.

When the music stops, they can stop brushing.

Aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 12, the brush is endorsed by the British Dental Health Foundation and by their chief executive, Dr Nigel Carter describes it as: “The most exciting and innovative oral care product seen in years.”

Kids can chose from one of three brushes currently available, each with a popular music track, including Survivor by Destiny’s Child, Let’s Get it Started from Black Eyed Peas and Queen’s We Will Rock You. More tracks are planned for later in the year.

Dr Carter said encouraging children to clean their teeth for the right length of time is vitally important.

Statistics show that while there are many desirables, a good brushing routine is the only thing that is proven beyond doubt to result in better oral health,” he said.

“Robust research suggests that most people actually brush for less than 45 seconds and this is barely long enough to skim across most of the teeth. We recommend two minutes of brushing twice a day, which Tooth Tunes will really encourage.”

Another recommendation by the British Dental Health Foundation is that a toothbrush should be replaced four times a year, so now kids will be able to change to another tune every time they change their brush.

Mark Wilde, Marketing Manager for makers Grosvenor, said: “Getting the kids to clean their teeth is a daily challenge faced by most parents but Tooth Tunes really addresses this issue which in many homes is a nagging start to each day and another battle at the end.

“By giving kids two minutes of their favourite music to brush to we’ve taken the tedium out of cleaning their teeth and made it fun without compromising on quality of brush and bristles.

Tooth Tunes are priced at 7.99 each and are available in shops from September.
