Toolstation NCEL: Handsworth Parramore get their promotion push back on track with 4-1 win

Handsworth Parramore got their promotion push on track once more following back-to-back defeats, with a comprehensive 4-1 home win against Bottesford Town.

The Ambers got just the start they were looking for when Richard Tootle slammed the ball home from 20 yards from Luke Fletcher’s through pass with just five minutes on the clock.

Mick Godber’s side doubled the advantage on 17 minutes as Keiran Wells nodded in his 14th of the season.

Jon Froggatt wasn’t far away from adding a third before the break with a shot on the turn that went just wide of the post.

Five minutes into the second half Bottesford were back in the game as the visitors were awarded a penalty, which saw the experienced Terry Barwick send keeper Joe Green the wrong way.

Handsworth needed a third goal to take the pressure off and they got one on 69 minutes

Godber’s side won a corner which was only half cleared by the Bottesford defence and there was Ryan Lee to drill a low shot through a crowded box.

The Town ‘keeper did well to deny Wells twice in quick succession before Handsworth finally grabbed the fourth four minutes from time with Aaron Moxam volleying in his first for the club since his recent move from Rainworth MW.

Worksop Town were beaten 3-0 at in-form Bridlington Town as the Seasiders sealed a ninth league win on the spin - leaving Mark Shaw’s side down in 13th and 19 points adrift of the leaders Cleethorpes Town.

Maltby Main ended a run of four defeats on the trot by coming from behind to beat next-to-bottom Barton Town Old Boys 4-1 at Muglet Lane.

The Miners were behind after just six minutes when the unfortunate Reece Wesley saw a rebound off the post bounce off him and back into the net.

Maltby grew into the game and deservedly equalised on 24 minutes in what was the first of three goals in a 13 minute spell.

Ryan Carroll chased down a long ball to to hit a first time effort into the bottom corner.

The home side had turned it around on 35 minutes. A long throw had Barton all at sea and Shawn Mitchell forced the ball home.

Two minutes later Maltby had a third, Carroll thumping home his second after a long kick up field had been flicked on by Josh Schofield. The Miners added a late fourth when Carroll and Jack Binney combined to set up Darrelle Goodison

Staveley MW took their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions with a 2-0 victory over bottom of the table Parkgate at Inkersall Road.

Steve Carty powered in a header from a Shuan Nesbitt cross to give the Trojans a 31st minute lead. Nesbitt then finished off a good move with a powerful finish for the second three minutes from the break

Armthorpe Welfare were looking for three points at home against Garforth Town, which would have seen them climb out of the bottom three.

However, once James Beaston had swept home from a free-kick and Mark Simpson had added as second following a good run and finish on 24 minutes, Welfare were always chasing the game.

Jack Walden pulled one back five minutes before the break but Garforth quickly restore their two goal cushion with Simpson grabbing his second of the game. Armthorpe made a strong start to the second half, pulling one back on 50 minutes through Liam Radford, but the home side couldn’t find an equaliser as the visitors made sure of the points with a Sean Hunter penalty three minutes from time to run out 4-2 winners.

Danny Cawley rescued a point for Athersley Recreation with a stoppage time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Clipstone.

Retford United let slip a 2-0 at home against Albion Sports as the Badgers finished on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline.

The hosts looked on their way to a first win in eight games when Ben Wood and James Done on 21 minutes gave the home side a 2-0 lead.

In Division One, two Brett Lovell goals secured a 2-1 home win for leaders Penistone Church against Shirbrook Town, The visitors, though, made it an anxious finish after pulling one back six minutes from time.

Hallam came from behind to seal a eighth away win of the season, beating Westella & Willerby 2-1.

The home side went in front on 66 minutes after a counter attack from a Hallam corner as Dan Walker got in between two defenders to find the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Substitute Jake Currie put Ryan Hindley’s side back on level terms with a good turn and finish from a Jack Hargreaves cross.

Hallam had the home side penned in their own half that finally brought the winner in stoppage time. A corner was only half cleared to the edge of the box and there was Hargreaves to arrow a shot into the rook of the net.

Callum Mawbey grabbed a hat-trick, including the winner two minutes from time, as Dronfield beat struggling Rossington Main 3-2.

The visitors had taken a seventh-minute lead through Jake Vernon, before Town hit back to lead 2-1. Main looked to have rescued a point with Jason Stokes’ 80th minute equaliser.

AFC Emley climbed into a play off place with a resounding 7-1 home win against Selby Town. Jordan Coduri hit a hat-trick along with a brace from Ashley Flynn with Joe Brennan and Matt Jackson also on target.

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic slumped to a fifth defeat in six losing 3-1 at Teversal to a Josh Radford hat-trick. Connor Gregg netted the Briggers’ only reply with a first half penalty.
