Ryan Hindley’s Countrymen dominated throughout and will wonder how they didn’t come away with maximum points, while Selby’s players celebrated as if they had won the league at the final whistle.

Hallam could quite easily had been four or five up at the interval, as Christian Savage and Jed Phillips both drew good saves from Selby goalkeeper Peter Lawrie.

Jack Hargreaves steered a shot wide of an open goal, and Selby’s first effort on target didn’t arrive until the 78th minute - before Lawrie again excelled to deny Jake Currie.

It was also a frustrating day for ten-man Handsworth Parramore as they too were held to a goalless draw by Hemsworth MW.

The Ambers had goalkeeper Archie Sneath harshly sent-off in the 11th minute for handball outside the area. Danny Holland was the man to make way as Handsworth brought on substitute keeper Joe Green.

And it was Green that helped ensure The Ambers at least came away with a point with a fine penalty save four minutes from time - just moments after Jon Froggatt had seen his effort saved with Kieran Wells’ follow up cleared off the line.
