Toilet police on the beat

Oh dear, I see the dreaded 'toilet police' have made it into The Star letters columns yet again (Mrs J Pearson, Friday, October 21).

Now I can think of many examples of pure wickedness and evil villainy which could do with stamping out in this fair city but attempting to use a public lavatory is definitely not one of them.

Perchance someone from the council, or whoever is responsible for this, would deign to enlighten us all on a few points via these pages.

Who exactly are these “toilet police”, to whom or what are they accountable, what are their terms of reference, and why are they apparently charged with preventing people from using the public toilets?

Are the drains backing up, or what?
