Togel's donation of £6,450 to town's hospice

A Doncaster-based building contractor has donated £5,200 to the town's hospice appeal.

Family-run business Togel raised the cash through the company’s annual golf day - asking their suppliers and sub-contractors to sponsor each of the 18 holes, holding a hole-in-one competition, providing a club-cleaning facility and inviting people to have a go a beating comedian Garry Marshall.

By gift-aiding the donation, the means that the hospice will also receive a further £1,250, taking the donation up to £6,450.

Kate Gillott, of Togel, said: “It’s our pleasure to donate this money to St John’s Hospice at Balby. We chose the hospice as we wanted to focus our fundraising on a smaller local charity, a place where our donation would make a big difference.

“I was amazed at the array of services and levels of care St John’s Hospice offers, from the Hospice at Home service to the personal care facilities, especially the hair salon, in house, these extra touches are something I know I’d appreciate if I was using the service.

“When I visited the hospice the staff were amazing, so welcoming and smiley and the facilities were so bright and inviting. From all of us at Togel we’d like to thank all the staff at St Johns, for the amazing work they do daily.”

Chris Smith, hospice fundraiser, said: “This amazing amount of money is really appreciated. Every penny donated is spent on making our patients’ lives better and more comfortable.”
