Titans four expected to return to the side in Dublin

Four Rotherham players, who have been absent with long term injuries until now, are expected to return to action this evening in Dublin where the Titans play their penultimate game in the British and Irish Cup against Leinster A.

Centres Jordan Davies and Joel Gill, and forwards Darran Harris and Toby Williams, should be included in the Rotherham squad which will show limited changes to the one that was selected to play in the postponed clash against Ealing Trailfinders last Saturday.

The Titans no longer have any competitive interest in the B and I Cup, having lost three of their four games played so far; but with hugely significant Championship games against Doncaster Knights followed by Bristol in the next two weeks, it is essential that the squad perform well tonight at Donnybrook.

The Titans have been beaten in their last four league games, a losing sequence that has dropped them to ninth in the Championship table, so from the point of view of coach Mark Jones a decent display this evening against one of the most talented, young sides in Europe is of great importance.

Jones needs his squad to be at the top of their game if the Titans are to earn a shock win in the South Yorkshire derby..live on Sky a week on Sunday at Castle Park..and then against Bristol at Clifton Lane, the next weekend.

The clash against Leinster gives Davies, Gill, Williams and Harris the opportunity to stake a claim to be included in the squad to take on the two best Championship teams in consecutive games, matches in which Rotherham must pick up vital league points.

Leinster, top of Pool 1 in the British and Irish Cup, have won all their five games and are through to the quarter finals, but will not be taking tonight’s game complacently and nor will Rotherham whose season has reached a critical stage.

What is also of importance this evening is that the Titans’ pack, which has been outfought in the last four Championship contests, shows that the recent hard work seen in training sessions is turned into match winning progress and that the forwards become highly competitive and are able to defend rolling mauls from line outs.
