Harrowing footage captures scale of devastation left by wildfire which closed Woodhead Pass
A wildfire has been burning for weeks in the Peak District
Drone footage has captured the scale of the devastation left by a raging wildfire on Derbyshire moorland.
Firefighters have battled for weeks to contain the blaze on Tintwistle Moor, which broke out on June 24 following a car crash.

The wildfire is thought to be one of the most significant in England’s history.
It led to the closure of the Woodhead Pass for nearly two weeks.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue announced on July 30 that all ‘visible flames’ are extinguished and are working to contain hotspots that could break out into more fire.
Now, Derby Mountain Rescue Team has captured the extent of the fire and the damage done to the moor.
Aerial footage shows the hills of the natural beauty spot charred and blackened for miles.
Swathes of grassland and shrubbery have been burned away and smoke still rises from hotspots caused by deep-seated pockets of heat that pose risk of reignition.
Watch the remains of the wildfire in the footage above.
