Time to tiptoe through the tulips

Whilst commercial tulip production is virtually a thing of the past in the UK their popularity as a garden flower is boundless.

The range is incredible with a colour, range, and form to suit all tastes.

Whilst planting can be delayed till end of October I urge you to make your plans and order - NOW.

As ever, be adventurous in your selections and suggest you study the many catalogues etc. available.

Remember to buy top size bulbs and plant at least four inches deep. It is best to wear gloves when handling any quantity as they can promote a skin rash.

To help your selection may I recommend TARDA, a really dwarf multi-headed white/yellow star and for a stately border gem DREAMING MAID - mauve/silver markings. BALLERINA - apricot/tangerine of elegant form, and, unusual for tulips, fragrant.

PS - The UK is still the world’s largest producer of daffodil bulbs!
