Tigers shot dead by late strike

WORKSOP Town's woes continued when a last minute goal sent them down to a 1-0 defeat at Ossett Town.

It was Ossett's first home win and condemned Tigers to a tenth game without a win. It leaves Worksop second from bottom of the UniBond Premier Division table with only Frickley Athletic below them.

Defeat was harsh on Worksop, who had the better of what few chances there were. Cutis Bernard fired an early opening wide, Andy Wright saw his effort blocked close and Antony Jackson saw his header diverted over. Ossett snatched the points in the 90th minute when a corner as not properly dealt with and Aidan Savoury calmly finished from close range.

Frickley's poor start continued with a 3-1 defeat at North Ferriby leaving them without a win in 12 outings.

Frickley took the lead as ex-Barnsley favourite Neil Redfearn blasted home a 25-yard free-kick. But the game was turned on its head when David Cooke and Brewster Frizzell scored. It was not until the 90th minute that Ferriby secured the points when Alex Davidson placed his shot wide of the diving John Hood.

Retford United extended their lead at the top of UniBond Division One South to three points after a 3-2 win at Carlton Town. The home side took the lead just past the half hour mark but Retford hit back strongly after the break with three goals in 17 minutes. Mick Goddard hit the equaliser on 54 minutes with Neil Harvey putting the visitors in front nine minutes later. Ryan Hindley extended the lead on 71 minutes before Carlton pulled one back in injury time.
