Thumbs-up for shop sign

AN ADVERTISING firm has overturned a Doncaster Council decision which stopped it erecting an illuminated sign on the front of a shop.

The council had refused to give Primelight Advertising planning permission to put up an illuminated advertising board outside a convenience store on the corner of Morley Road and Beckett Road, Wheatley.

But the decision has been overturned after an appeal to the Department for Communities and Local Government.

The department’s planning inspector Terry Emm said the sign would not look out of place or spoil the area.
