Thug attacks pensioner on Sheffield street

A yob hit an elderly man at a Sheffield bus stop in an unprovoked attack this afternoon.

The elderly man sustained a bloody injury to his head and is currently being treated by ambulance services. 

The attack happened at around 1:30pm on Leopold Street.

A passerby said the man was shouting variations of ‘you can’t lock me up’ and ‘go ahead, lock me up’ at police officers.

They added: “He was removed from All Bar One then he started harassing people in the street because he was a bit irate with the police.

“He was banging on the police car’s windows as they drove off.

“All his anger with the police got taken out on that poor guy.”

The man continued to shout as police drove off. 

A paramedic looking after the victim said the man had also tried to throw a chair at him.
