Two men burst into the bank and threatened staff with guns at around 8.50am last Friday.

One member of staff was assaulted during the incident.

The robbers fled from the scene in a stolen getaway car, which struck a woman crossing nearby Rawmarsh Hill.

South Yorkshire Police has admitted that cash was stolen during the raid after initially describing it as an ‘attempted’ robbery.

A 52-year-old man arrested on suspicion of robbery over the weekend and a 39-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
