Three men have been arrested over a stabbing in Rotherham town centre.

Police officers arrested the men - two aged 24 and one 26 - after an attack on a 19-year-old man in Wellgate at 7pm on Wednesday.

The driver of the Audi was pulled from the car, punched in his face and stabbed in his back.

POLICE: Forensic experts examine Sheffield street after shootingA South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Three men have been arrested and are being questioned in connection to an assault reported on Wednesday at around 7pm on Wellgate in Rotherham.

"A black BMW one series is reported to have pulled up and three men got of the car, approaching a black Audi A3.

"The driver of the Audi, 19-years-old, is then reported to have been pulled from the car and punched in the face. He also sustained a stab wound to his back.

"One of the three men is then alleged to have smashed the Audi’s windscreen, before getting into the BMW with the other two men and fleeing the scene.

"The 19-year-old attended hospital to be treated for his injuries.

"The three men, two aged 24-years-old and a 26-year-old, remain in police custody at this time."
