There was traffic chaos in Sheffield this morning after two road smashes which saw three pedestrians taken to hospital.
The pedestrians were taken to hospital after they were struck by a red car on Abbeydale Road at 7.40am.
Police closed Abbeydale Road and commuter traffic was diverted.
Officers said this morning that Abbeydale Road, at its junction with Broadfield Road near to the Tesco Express, would remain closed until at least midday today.
Diversions are in place and officers have advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.
Bus routes and times may also be affected.
A force spokeswoman said the injured pedestrians were taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’.
A second incident happened near the Mosbrough junction of Sheffield Parkway.
Police said they were called to a four-vehicle collision at 7.50am.
The vehicles were damaged but nobody was injured.
Traffic drew to a standstill and was backed up all the way to junction 33 of the M1.
Anyone who witnessed the collision on Abbeydale Road is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 127 of January 9.
