TWO women spotted discarding cigarette butts in Rotherham and a woman caught dropping litter have all been fined.
Lynn Wharmsley, of North Road, East Dene, was fined £175 and ordered to pay £180.74 costs for dropping a cigarette end on Frederick Street in Rotherham town centre.
Jodie Worsley, of Howard Road, Bramley, was fined £50 for dropping her cigarette in the town centre and ordered to pay £80 costs.
Lisa Machin, of Carlisle Street, Rotherham, was fined £225 with £100 costs for two littering offences.
Rotherham Council cabinet member for housing and neighbourhoods Coun Jahangir Akhtar said: “One cigarette end might not seem a lot but smokers have to take care where they dispose of them.
“They cause a huge volume of litter on the streets and so if anyone does throw a cigarette butt on the ground rather than using a bin or an ashtray they will be challenged, fined and taken to court.”
