Thousands to flock to enjoy lantern event in Sharrow

Have your say

A giant giraffe and thousands of creative lanterns will float through a Sheffield community this Sunday night.

The popular Sharrow Lantern Carnival is returning for its 11th year with the theme of ‘Life and Earth.’

Lanterns have been created at workshops held at The Old Junior School in Sharrow since February.

And they will take to the skies for a special parade and celebration from 7.30pm.

Visitors are advised to meet at Mount Pleasant Park at 7.30pm to be lead by the Shefffield Samba Band through the streets of Sharrow.

Thousands of people will dance towards Sheffield General Cemetery to be greeted with fire spinning and bands until 10.30pm. An after party takes place at The Cremorne on London Road.
