Thousands of homes and businesses hit by huge power cut in Sheffield

The cut – which was first reported at 1.20pm this afternoon – is currently affecting 3.650 properties across the S1, S2, S25, S3, S30, S33, S35, S36, S4 and S5 postcodes.

Northern Powergrid say the cut has been caused by an unexpected problem with the electricity cable that serves the area and they are working hard to restore the power as quickly as possible.
