Thornton may make Sheffield Sharks debut in Leeds derby

One of the BBL's developing rivalries resumes in Sheffield tonight, infront of the BBC Sport cameras.

DBL Sharks Sheffield play host to Yorkshire neighbours Leeds Force, starting at 7.45, with revenge on their minds having suffered a 21-point defeat during the opening weekend of the season.

Sharks, who could hand a debut to American forward Kellen Thornton, have steadied the ship after a rocky start, dealing with a series of injuries and climbing to a 7-6 record, with four wins in their last five.

Force sit outside the Play-Off positions, following back-to-back defeats, but are just four points off seventh spot.

Sharks’ guard Colin Sing: “Leeds are a tough team, they’re physical, run their sets well and beat us on the opening weekend of the season. I think it will be a close start to the game but we know we will have to match their physicality, be on a string when playing defence and execute on offence to win.”
