Thornton goal gives Parkgate first win of season; Hallam crash out of Vase to holders

The win narrowed the gap on Barton Town OB and Armthorpe Welfare who both lost, while Retford United’s late victory against Maltby Main meant Parkgate remain nine points adrift of safety.
Handsworth Parramore are up to sixth after narrowiong the gap on leaders Cleethorpes Town with a hard earned 2-1 win at 10-men Albion Sports.

Hide AdAmbers’ Keiran Wells had an early shot briliantly saved and the hosts were down to 10 just before the half hour when Asif Hussain was red card for bringing down Aaron Moxam.
Within six minutes Handsworth had made their numerical advantage count as Danny Buttle rifled in a fine effort from the edge of the box.
But indecision at the back allowed Steve Smith to nip in for the equaliser earlyin the second half.

Hide AdGareth Griffith headed just wide but Handsworth hit the winner on 75 minutes with Moxam scoring his third in successive games with a piece of clinical finishing.
Maltby Main had an eventful game at Retford United losing 3-2 in time added on.
Nicky Darker lashed Main ahead after just 14 seconds but Josh Rabylevelled after a scramble in the area.

Hide AdThe game threatened to boil over when Maltby’s Ollie Lawrence appeared to be kicked in the back of the head resulting in a melee with Retford captain Keith Melvin being shown a red card along with the Maltby goalkeeper Danny Rusling for his reaction.
Lawrence took no further part in the game while John Stancliffe took over from Rusling in goal.
Dan Murray put Retford in front but the Miners though looked to have snatched a deserved point in the final minute when Shawn Mitchell forced the ball home after a corner had been nodded on. But t in stoppage time Retford snatched the points as Raby curled in a stunning free-kick.

AFC Emley went out 2-1 at home to NCEL Premier Division leaders Cleethorpes Town. Keiran Ryan gave them a 31st lead but they conceded twice in the last eight minutes.
