Sentinel Brewing Co, on Shoreham Street, is in the former Geoff Hall Carpet showroom. The building’s transformation to a brewery, bar, eatery and business event venue, with the capacity to brew 132,000 gallons of beer a year, was undertaken by Ken Jenkinsons Builders and PK Electrical plus a host of other local firms.

Alex Barlow, founder, Master Brewer and beer author, said, “With our brewhouse, bar and eatery and boardrooms for business events all in the same space, Sentinel gives food and drink lovers the chance to see the whole journey in the life of their beer – from sacks of grain to fermenting tanks to bar and table in less than 30 metres.”

Some 200 people attended a launch event.

Alex Barlow, became the youngest ever Master Brewer when he qualified in 1991. Since then he has worked for Bass, Staropramen and run his own consultancy business helping found or develop breweries.
