Thieves cause Sheffield flat fire by tampering with mobility scooter - appeal

An appeal has been launched after a fire at a ground floor flat in Sheffield.

At around 5.45am on Saturday 9 January, police received reports of a fire at a property in Derby Street, Heeley.

Officers believe the fire may have been caused by thieves tampering with a mobility scooter, that was parked next to the property, in a bid to steal it.

The owner of the flat was able to escape with minor injuries.

An investigation is underway and officers are asking anyone with information to get in touch.
