Hedge trimmers were stolen from a council van parked up on a Sheffield street.

South Yorkshire Police said they were stolen from the back of a van in Birley Moor Road, Birley.

Officers are also investigating the theft of tools from a vehicle parked in June Road, Woodhouse.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Please, wherever possible, park vehicles on driveways or in a well lit area.

"Consider backing vans up to another vehicle, wall or garage door to prevent offenders being able to access the van doors."
