Yet again we read about more animal cruelty (Star, February 8) in the awful case of a dog dumped in woodland in Barnsley and left for dead after being savagely beaten.

Thankfully, unlike the case of poor Issac, who was killed after being tortured and set on fire, the dog was saved and is being looked after by the RSPCA who are treating its serious head injuries.

This is no doubt another case where the evil person who carried out this appalling cruelty will never be brought to justice, but the very disturbing aspect is who will be their next victim – will it be another defenceless dog or an innocent child?

People who carry out these horrific crimes are a danger to both animals and humans and that is why there is an urgent need to catch them as soon as possible and bring them before the courts.
