Hooper, who has been out with injury since Boxing Day last year, retweeted Allan McNelis's post that said: 'Sell Moussa, bring back @HOOP588', referring to Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

Dembele's future has been subject to much speculation this summer and has been heating up as the transfer window comes to an end in Scotland.

The retweet didn't go unnoticed by both sets of fans, who had mixed reactions to the possibility of Hooper returning to the SPL.

One fan tweeted: 'he had his chance to become a Celtic legend, and went for the money'.

Another Hoops fan, Michael Yeats added: 'the replies on this. Thought Hooper did well for us, and tried to better himself, didn't work out.. some fans need to remember these players haven't supported us their whole life like we have and would do anything to pull the Celtic top on., and have a short career.'

Wednesday fans had plenty to add too, with Matt Surgeon writing: 'He's injured mate and has been for several months..we need him more than the Hoops..Sooner he's back playing for Wednesday the better..' and John Callaghan adding: 'Sorry no chance, going to be banging em in for Wednesday next month.'

Does a retweet mean Hooper wants to leave the club?
