1. The Hidden Gem Cafe

It's not surprising this kind-hearted city's number one restaurant of choice doubles up as a project ran by a unique charity. WORK Ltd offers people with learning disabilities a chance to reach their full potential by becoming incredibly talented chefs and serving up a wide selection of top quality food.

“So good I don't want to tell people about it!!! The hidden gem is in danger of being hidden no longer. I cannot praise the quality of the food enough. On one hand I want to tell you how good it is. On the other, I want to keep it a secret. Oh what the heck. Potentially one of the finest eating places in Sheffield! You have to try it! Its fine dining but so affordable!" - Pondasher, TripAdvisor

2. Rafters

This restaurant has long been accepted as one of Sheffield's finest eateries - since 1993 to be precise. New owners have taken over in the last couple of years but fortunately for us, they are equally committed to creating highly skilled and creative cooking.

"Took my husband here for his birthday a couple of weeks ago and were treated to an excellent evening with fabulous food, wine and service. We opted for the tasting menu and the courses were beautifully matched by some excellent wines. We've eaten in some great restaurants around the world and Rafters is right up there amongst them. Would visit again in an instant and highly recommend to anyone thinking of booking a meal there for a special occasion." - HolidayGoggles, TripAdvisor

3. Vito's Italian Restaurant

Founded in 1991, Vito's is one of the longest established Italian restaurants in Sheffield. The owner and chef Vito Ciaraolo started his career at the age of 14 in its native town Bella, in south of Italy, where he learned his mastery skills.

"I went to Vito's with my partner for his birthday and found the restaurant and staff were fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious! It was our first visit here and it certainly won't be our last! Great prices for amazing food! Thank you for a great night and fantastic service! Highly recommend!" - Demi W, TripAdvisor

4. Marco at Milano

This Italian restaurant housed in an old police station, wanted to stand out in terms of gastronomic quality. The family business serves up traditional Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist and has the pleasure of offering the alfresco dining area overlooking the park.

"This is my favourite restaurant in Sheffield. Lovely food, great atmosphere and the staff and service very good. We go there about once a month and have never been disappointed. Defiantly recommend you try it." - 783kate56, TripAdvisor

5. Piccolos Italian Restaurant

Located on West Street, Piccolos offers a true authentic Italian experience in a calm and relaxing environment, perfect for an intimate meal or catch-up with friends.

"The food is excellent, always a high standard, the staff are friendly. Have been going for over 12 years and always happy. The garlic bread is the best and the pasta is beautiful. We have never been to a better place for pasta." - 1Sparkle1, TripAdvisor

6. Cutlers Spice

As a teenager, restaurateur Allam Shah Ullah, made his first Indian takeaway delivery to the Cutlers Arms and decided it would make ‘a cracking restaurant’. Fifteen years later he did just that when the Cutlers came up for auction and his dream became a reality with the launch of the modern and luxurious, Cutlers Spice.

"So much choice for our group to choose from. We all enjoyed the food, amazing as per usual. Portions are generous too so the ones in our group with large appetites weren't disappointed & I as usual had to take a doggy bag! Friendly staff, amazing evening!" - Tracy S, TripAdvisor

7. Ashoka Indian Restaurant

Ashoka has been in the neighbourhood restaurant since 1967, but that doesn't mean it is stuck in the 60s. The award-winners are bang on trend with their stylish but authentic decor, fitting in perfectly on Ecclesall Road.

"AMAZING......! I don't say this with out experience, I've eaten in Michelin star Indian restaurants in London also traveled throughout India, my husband said "the dal is like my mom's" the food was authentic delicious & plentiful, friendly staff great atmosphere, the price well matched the amazing food, advise booking it was very busy on a Sunday evening. 10. Tamper Coffee at Sellers Wheel

This coffee shop is located two minutes from the train station and has done its best to keep the most of the grade II listed building, baring bricks and all. The couple who own it pride themselves on their New Zealand roots, bringing with them their taste for great coffee, great locally sourced food and a bar serving NZ wines and a large selection of craft beers.

"I can't say enough good things about Tamper, I visit 5-6 times per week as I meet a lot of clients here for coffee.
