Thanks but no thanks

I took advantage of the recent rail travel offer from The Star, in conjunction with Northern Rail, to go to Manchester for the day.

The outward journey was acceptable but the return journey was on an archaic Pacer train and was a totally unacceptable experience.

The seats were low- backed, no headrests and very uncomfortable.

Every seat was facing the wrong way and therefore everyone was travelling backwards.

It was extremely noisy and uncomfortably hot, even though all the windows were open.

Are we really in the 21st century?

Talk about the Northern Powerhouse and HS2, this would just not be acceptable in London and the south east.

Sheffield to Manchester is a main route and if I was a commuter and had to use the route regularly I would be extremely annoyed.

As it is, I have a choice not to travel by rail and will not be taking up the offer in the future.
