Thanks to my hero Chris for his article

I am just emailing you to sing the praises of your senior reporter Chris Burn. He has just written a piece about my father, Jimmy Swift, in Tuesday night's copy of the Star and I am astounded by the level of detail and content that he included in telling the story of his past.

My family and myself are thrilled that our own unsung hero has been commemorated in this way and my dad would be ‘As pleased as punch’ to know that anyone was interested in his story.

Chris has been extremely kind, sensitive and helpful both now and at the time of my father’s death in 2014 when he dedicated a tribute piece to him as a Sheffield character and WW2 Veteran.

It lifted our spirits at a very dark and unhappy time and now he has done it again.

People are already contacting me and I hope that in the future we will be able to bring his treasured memories back to life so that others who never knew Jimmy as we did, can read about an ordinary young Sheffield lad put into extraordinary circumstances at a time in our country’s history.

Thank you so much to the Sheffield Star for including our story, but especially to Chris Burn who is my hero.
