'˜Thanks for getting me out of the s*** Mbappe!' Billy Sharp tells Sheffield United's goal hero in 3-2 win at Millwall

When he scores, Sheffield United invariably win... and Billy Sharp kept up that impressive record this afternoon as the Blades beat Millwall at The Den.

But they certainly made hard work of it, going behind in a five-minute spell after Sharp’s goal had put United ahead.

Sharp earlier saw a penalty saved well by Ben Amos and when United were awarded a second spot kick in the second half, David McGoldrick took responsibility and made no mistake.

The striker then tapped home the winner after more good work from Mark Duffy, and Sharp jokingly tweeted afterwards: “No better feeling travelling back north with the three points.

”We dug deep and found a way. Thanks Didzy [McGoldrick] aka Mbappe for getting me out of the s#*t today.

”Thanks to the fans - brilliant as usual.”

Blades manager Chris Wilder says he was proud of his players as they ended their poor recent run against Millwall with victory at The Den.

Wilder said: “I’m just so proud of the players, the way they went about it.

“We switched off for five minutes but you’ve got to give credit to the opposition too. They’re not on a great run at the moment but they’re a proud group of players and a proud manager.

“So this was never going to be an easy place to come and get a result. But what I’m so pleased about is that we kept playing the way we want to play, grinding them down and overloading and working the ball from side to side.”
